Lake Ray Hubbard

Fishing Report from TPWD (Apr. 9)

GOOD. Water stained; 67 degrees; 0.03 feet below pool. White bass are relating to structure and are post spawn. Look on humps, long points and drop-offs around shallow flats. White bass are also still being caught in the feeder creeks above the lake. Small roadrunner type baits and small crappie jigs working. Crappie are hood and numbers are showing up in the creeks and shallow water especially sunny days that warms the shallow water. Minnows working best but cork and jig with long poles around cattails are starting to produce. Catfish are good on the north end of the lake on long points and around timber 15-24 feet using prepared stink baits. After these rains stage your boat in front of feeder creeks as the running water will bring the cats in. Chumming will help bring the schools into your areas. Report by John Varner, John Varner's Guide Service.
